By the time the final whistle blew on June 1, 2025, African Stars had earned the crown of Debmarine NPFL Champions, and what a breathtaking ride it was.

Prologue: A Rocky Opening

Our season was meant to kick off against Young African, but fate stepped in—postponement rewrote our plans. Instead, December 6, 2024 brought us into Round 2, a tense 0–0 stalemate with UNAM. The result didn’t sparkle, but it whispered promise.

Two days later, in Round 3, came the first spark. Against Bucks Buccaneers, Jimms delivered the finishing blow, assisted by Stephanus. A fragile 1–0 win, yet our first taste of momentum.

🌍 Rundu Road Trip: Highs, Lows, and Missing Their Leader

Rundu awaited on the 14th of December. We drew 1–1 with Cuca Tops. It was gritty. The next day, everything crumbled in a brutal 4–1 loss to Julinho Athletic. There, Ngaruka found the net, but it wasn’t enough.

Behind the scenes, a shadow of loss hovered: head coach Ronny Kanalelo was away, mourning his sister. Assistant coach Benny Haoseb took the reins, tasked with steadying a ship in choppy waters.

Return to Form: December Resurgence

By December 21, though, Stars roared back—3–1 over Blue Boys, goals from Malane, Tjahikika, Kambanda. The very next day, a commanding 3–0 blast against Blue Waters, featuring Tjahikika, Ngaruka, and Stephanus. We ended the year on a high—and yes, those replica shirts were flying off the shelves by January 8!

🎉 A New Year, New Force

January 18, 2025—home turf, and we exploded in a 4–1 rout of Young Brazillians. Stephanus, Tjahikika, and Gaseb all dotted the score sheet. The cherry on top? It was the birthday of our chairman, Salomo Hei.

The very next day, a frustrating 0–0 draw against Khomas Nampol. Still, by January 21, we stood third in the league with 15 points—Young African and Nampol led, but we were closing fast.

🏆 MTC Maris Cup: The First Major Test

January 26 unleashed African Stars in the MTC Maris Cup. We crushed Blue Boys 3–0 in the Round of 16. Next, on February 2, a tense 1–0 win over Mighty Gunners propelled us into the semis. Then came a seismic shift.

On February 5, Coach Kanalelo resigned. The team reeled—but Haoseb rose. As interim coach, he commanded a 2–0 thriller at Eeshoke Chula Chula on February 8, and the very next day, a 2–1 triumph at KK Palace. We surged to first place, 21 points—heart-pounding stuff.

In Mariental on March 8, we edged Bucks Buccaneers 2–1 to reach the final. Then came March 29—final day drama. We clashed with Young African. One goal—Stephanus’s legendary strike. Cup glory was ours. Tjahikika named Player of the Tournament, our keeper took home the Goalkeeper award. Countrywide ripples of joy.

📘 Setbacks, Sacrifices, and Silent Strength

Mid-March was heavy. Four players—Katua, Tjahikika, Stephanus, Hambira—left for World Cup qualifiers. Then tragedy: the passing of NFA Secretary General Charles Siyauya, followed by personal loss to player Thabang Malane and club legend George Gariseb. Coach changes, grief—it felt like the team climbed uphill through mud.

Still, when league action resumed April 1, we held firm: 1–1 draw with Young African (a thunderous goal from Katua). April saw wins, a tough home loss, new coach Bob Mafoso, a rollercoaster double fixture on April 12 (2–0 loss, 1–0 win), and a gritty 1–1 derby draw. April 26–27, two crushing home wins. Momentum was ours again.

🌊 Coastal Clash & Title Run-in

May: Coastal tour brought grit. 2–1 win over Blue Boys, 1–1 draw with Blue Waters. May 10 saw a 3–1 thumping of Khomas Nampol. Then came the match of the season: a packed stadium, 4,000 roaring fans on May 17, but when the whistle fell—it was a 0–0 draw. The next day, we rebounded…only to fall 2–0 to KK Palace on May 18.

Despite that, lights turned green. May 23 saw six Stars earn COSAFA call-ups—including Malane and Youssouf. We surged again: 2–0 vs FC Ongos, 2–0 derby win vs Tigers, 1–0 at Okahandja United. Piece by piece, destiny was being woven.

🎖️ Climactic Finale

June 1 arrived—the game that would seal it. Away at Mighty Gunners, Tjahikika bent a free kick into history. 1–1 it finished. And with that draw…African Stars were champions—one game to spare. The final showdown looms on June 14 with trophy in hand.

🎯 The Aftermath

This wasn’t just a championship—it was a saga.

From heartbreak to heroics, from pipe dreams to trophies, every twist brought us closer. Injuries, tragedies, leadership changes—it all fed a collective will to win. Tjahikika and Stephanus carried the creative torch; the defense—anchored by Ngaruka, Hambira, Katua, and our undying goalkeeper Mervin (Lukaku) Kasetura—became our backbone.

🥇 Epilogue: A Club United

African Stars didn’t just win a season. We wrote a story. One of resilience, community, and triumph from loss. We honored legends and families lost, celebrated new heroes, and set the stage for even greater chapters ahead.

Our final match is June 14—it’s more than a game. It’s a coronation.

To every player, coach, staff, fan, and legend—we salute you. This is our club, our destiny, and now we go for the CAF Champions League.
